Aaagh – no time to blog!!!

Sorry it’s been so long since my last blog, but what with GCSE mocks, gigging, training in Leeds and being interviewed by the BBC I’ve felt like I haven’t really had a moment to myself (to be read to the strains of “Hearts & Violins” lol!)
After getting back from Sweden on the evening of Sunday 8 November, I was feeling pretty tired and it felt like SUCH an effort to go into school on the Monday morning. It was good to see everyone, once I was there though.
That evening it was straight back into training with another 2 hour session. Somehow it always feels that much harder when you’ve just done a competition. When you’re building up with an 8 week programme leading up to a specific day it’s like you can understand why you’re putting yourself through it, but then it’s a kind of tired, deflated feeling once it’s all over.
The next 2 days at school were taken up with my all day Art Mock GCSE exam. Seemed to go OK, but I genuinely just felt completely mentally and physically drained and, unusually, I didn’t train on either of those days.
Weirdly though I felt buzzing with energy on the Thursday – the fact that I was going to see Muse play at the 02 with one of my fellow weightlifters MAY have had something to do with it! The gig was absolutely fantastic and a friend has already got tickets for a bunch of us weightlifters to go and see them play at Wembley NEXT September (thanks Ben!!!)
By a happy coincidence there was no school for me the next morning as I had been granted a day’s absence to travel up to Leeds for a World Class Lifting GB training squad weekend. Although the training is tiring, I always love going to these squads because it’s great to meet up with the rest of my GB team mates. Sometimes we stay in a hotel while we’re up there and other times, like this one, we stay on the campus at Leeds Metropolitan University – which is also where the training takes place. It’s quite fun cooking for yourself etc – especially this time when we made a scrummy chocolate cake (not that we worked from a recipe so it was a bit of luck that it turned out OK!)
This week most of my energy has been spent revising for more of my mock GCSEs which I’ve been sitting. So far I’ve done Art, RE, Maths, English Language and ICT. Next week I still have more English Language, English Literature, French and more Maths. Wish me luck, I fear I’m going to need it!
On Thursday evening I was interviewed at the gym by Emma Jones from BBC Radio London for a programme due to be aired on the afternoon of Sunday 6 December. When I have more exact details, I’ll try to remember to include them in my blog.
Well, back to revising now – unfortunately …
